They called it Winter Storm Olympia and Miss Raider didn’t mind it at all……almost.
It started the evening of February 15th. Huge flakes of snow quickly covering everything in sight. Old Man Winter continued bombarding us throughout the night. I measured almost 10 inches of snow on our table on the back deck. I couldn’t resist making the little tag to tie around the ruler.
So then, after shoveling a path off the back deck and a couple places where Raider could get into the grass, I brought Raider out.
Naturally the spots I’d made for her weren’t good enough. They definitely were NOT her regular spots! Now just to clear this up, after shoveling, she could just see over the top of the snow. She kept looking. And looking some more. Finally, she couldn’t wait any longer and went bounding through the deep snow to HER spot.
I got Raider back inside and dried off. Oh yes, we can’t forget her treat too.
I decided to go out to the front deck, shovel a path to the steps, down the steps to the driveway, WHICH our wonderful neighbor was with his snow blower cleaning off our driveway for us. Of course, he won’t take money so I just happened to have a blueberry buttermilk cake baked and he got half! I normally bake him a pie or some cookies or a loaf of banana bread…..something on that order when he helps us out.
Anyway, I went on around taking a few more snapshots of Winter Storm Olympia.
This wild bush which I don’t know the name of with the red berries. I just love the way the red berries contrast with that beautiful snow.
And one last photo is our two Blue Spruce trees. Notice the brown bunches hanging in the one on the left? Those are pine cones. I’ll just have to wait on them to fall. I LOVE these trees no matter the season. They’re my favorite trees on our property.
Our winter wonderland and a beautiful blue sky! So thankful for the changing of the seasons and the beauty that comes with each one!
