It’s funny…..in the cold days of winter and/or when it’s raining…..I set up my still life shots indoors. And now it’s summer and my flower garden is blooming beautifully for me and I’m carrying my props outdoors. I live for summertime and practically live IN my flower garden…..it’s peaceful and beautiful there.
I spent some time this cloudy morning (PERFECT for shooting….no worries about blowouts from the bright sun) in my flower garden with this Homer Laughlin pitcher and bowl and a stool.
I probably saved way too many images but just couldn’t bare to part with any of them.
Here we go with Image #1 of my Vintage Still Life in the Flower Garden- basic editing in Lightroom (because I wanted it just the way I shot it). Those are false sunflowers and pinks (pink campions) in the background.
Image #2 – I moved in closer and still a basic edit in Lightroom.
Image #3 – I had to play with Kim Klassen’s “kk-still” preset so I cropped Image #1 and came up with this. I’m loving this one
Image #4 – I moved to a different area of the flower garden, changed my 50mm aperture to f/2 and captured this oh so lovely bokeh in the Coral Bells! This one is my favorite!
Image #5 – Again, I moved to another area of the flower garden, in front of the Japanese Maple and Yellow Coreopsis surrounding my props. I left this one as shot with only a basic Lightroom edit.
Image #5 – simply moved in a bit closer
Image #7 – a little different angle and composition…….my Shasta Daisy there in the right of the frame are just about to burst open in bloom!!
And finally, Image #8 – same shot as above but I used Kim’s “kk-quietdreams” preset……lovely stuff!!
I think you can see why I just couldn’t part with any of these images, even though the props remained the same. There’s just so many ways to play with editing that creates a brand new image with each one.
Hope you enjoyed the images as well as the little tour of only a small part of my flower garden.
Hugs and Have A Creative Day!
