I was taking one of my potted Christmas Cactuses out to the table on the front deck yesterday and spotted the old birdhouse on the table. Light bulb moment! Another Still Life came to mind. It seems like almost everything I do now days brings photography to mind. Things such as broken tiles or an odd-shaped limb or twig, dried vines……..know what I mean? My mind goes immediately to……how can I use that in a photo? Now I just KNOW I’m not the only one that thinks like this. I think all artists have their quirky ways of thinking about objects.
So…..I set up the shot and here it is. Basic editing was done in Lightroom adjusting exposure, shadows, saturation, etc.etc. Love playing with those sliders!
Then I rearranged the flowers and moved in closer and processed this one using Kim Klassen’s “quietdreams” lightroom preset. I love the dreamy, moody look and oh the texture it popped on the birdhouse.
And then saved one in this format, also using the “quietdreams” preset, for creating a greeting card.
Have you been shooting anything in particular this summer……stills, portraits, landscapes? I’d love to hear and SEE what you’ve been working with. Leave me a comment and a link to your work and I’ll be sure to visit!
Hugs and Have A Creative Day!
