This week’s Scripture and a Snapshot comes from Matthew 11:28-30.
The Life Application Bible says this about these verses:
A yoke is a heavy wooden harness that fits over the shoulders of an ox or oxen. It is attached to a piece of equipment the oxen are to pull. A “heavy laden” animal has a big load to pull. A “heavy laden” person may be burdened with sin, excessive demands of religious leaders, oppression and persecution, weariness in the search for God.
Jesus frees people from all these burdens. The rest Jesus promises is love, healing, and peace with God, not the end of all effort. A relationship with God changes meaningless toil into spiritual productivity and purpose.
So often I feel burdened and weary with all the problems we face and the world as it is today. Sometimes I think we expect God to hear our prayers and just reach down and punish those who persecute and oppress us. And one day we will ALL be judged, but today……here and now, I can speak to God through prayer and know he hears my prayers and will give me rest….his love, healing and peace.
How about you? Do you sometimes grow weary too?
Thanks so much for stopping by.
God Bless and Have a Wonderful Day!
