Hello and welcome to Scripture and a Snapshot – Week 20.
Yesterday, we got a phone call early in the morning that my daughter’s Yellow Lab had “escaped”. They were away for the weekend but had someone tending to their animals. NOT the fault of the caregiver, Max’s tie out had been disconnected and it was unbeknownst to her.
Long story short……we went right away to help look for him. After a couple hours……thankfully he was found……being cared for by a sweet lady down the road.
This was on my mind this morning as I set out to find a verse for today’s Scripture and a Snapshot. Our own furbabies came to mind and this is our “Mister Boo”. He is quickly approaching 14 years old and has a few minor health problems. But we haven’t cast him off just because he’s old and can no longer play as when he was a puppy. His hearing is leaving him but he has learned to follow a few hand signals and still scouts the backyard each and every day for any strange animals that may have wandered in during the night. We take pleasure in loving and caring for him for he has given us MUCH pleasure and unconditional love during his lifetime.
The Life Application Study Bible has this to say about Psalms 8:6:
“God gave mankind tremendous authority…to be in charge of the whole earth. But with great authority comes great responsibility. If we own a pet, we have the legal authority to do witih it as we wish, but we also have the responsibility to feed and care for it. How do you treat God’s creation? Use your resources wisely because God holds you accountable for your stewardship.”
Please don’t cast off your pets as they grow older nor mistreat them…..they’ve given you a lifetime of happiness and love.
I hope you enjoyed this post today! It was also a great reminder to me that we are accountable for our stewardship in other areas of our lives as well.
