I have an update on my Mesclun Mix Lettuce that I’m growing in a pallet. The original post is located HERE. (Clicking on the link will open the post in a new window).
This first photo I took on June 6th and you can see quite a difference from the original post when I first planted my pallets.
It has been unbelievable to me how much this lettuce grew in the past several days. We’ve had rain on and off and it has done wonders for all the vegetables and flowers in my gardens. I should’ve taken a newer photo for this post as it’s grown that much!
So for dinner tonight, I was able to harvest salad and for the most part, it was wonderful! HOWEVER, I am learning. I have learned that once arugula goes to flower, it is terribly bitter. I wouldn’t recommend eating it AT ALL. If I’d picked it earlier, it would’ve been fine. I removed as much of the arugula as I could, added some sliced onion, carrots, and a hard boiled egg to my salad, and it was great!! I also had a small dish of cherries.
You can also see green beans growing in the earth box, sweet potatoes in the half-barrel, and 2 tomato plants. The strawberry pallet is “iffy” and I’ll have an update on it a bit later.
And here’s a post that’s a MUST SEE! Vi Feirer at Creative Threadz is growing potatoes in burlap! You simple must visit her to see the progress of the potatoes AND she has a recipe there as well! CHECK IT OUT.
I hope you’re enjoying the experimental gardening posts. I know I’m sure enjoying the process!
Thanks for stopping by and HAVE A CREATIVE DAY!!
