What a month of gardening it’s been! And the past few days have been hot, hot, HOT. I’ve had to take several breaks throughout my work. I decided to go out early this morning before it got too hot. At 7AM I was outside digging a trench for my asparagus. I got 16 bare root asparagus plants done just before the sun came out good and hot.
This is the bare root plant.
Here’s the trench – 6 inches deep and about 15 feet long. I got 16 plants in this one but had to dig another one about 4 feet long in another part of the garden. My flower garden has become a combo flower/vegetable garden this year. It must’ve been the reason I thinned out alot of my plants earlier, making room for my veggies. I hadn’t planned on the asparagus and peppers being planted in the flower garden but after I planted so much in containers this year, a big garden would’ve been just too much to handle, thus the combo garden.
And here’s a photo of more of the trench. That’s my yarrow on the right. It may need to be moved next spring.
I planted 9 pepper plants too but didn’t take photos of those…….yet. LOL
Hope you enjoyed today’s post.
