I don’t know why this dish is made only during the Holidays but that’s how my Mom did it and so it is with me. I had never made it before Mom passed away in 2007 and just a few years ago, I decided to make it myself and it actually turned out! It gives me a Peace during the Holidays that feels like I’m sharing my kitchen with Mom and carrying on a tradition.
So here’s to our Cranberry Salad Mom and may it taste just like yours!
Of course this was just the beginning of the recipe, but a shot I’d not take of it before.
I first applied a curves layer to adjust the color.
I applied a solid color fill layer (picked from the berries) that I changed to soft light and reduced the opacity to 80%.
I then used a layer of Kim’s kk_0312, again at soft light, reduced the opacity to 70% and then added a layer mask to brush away some of the texture from the berries and a little from the glass measuring cup.
I added some text and couldn’t resist using one of Kim’s “merry and divine” brushes to finish it off.
Wishing you all a truly HAPPY NEW YEAR!
