My husband and I have been watching the different birds coming to our feeders the past few weeks. We’ve been seeing red-bellied woodpeckers, house finches, blue jays, cardinals, robins, and more.
The MOST exciting is seeing the return of the Cedar Waxwings. I had JUST posted about them HERE and mentioned that we’d only seen them that one time, however…….they’ve returned!! I was so pleased to see them!! I haven’t gotten a photo of them YET, but I’m working on it!
We also have a TON of chipmunks this year. They are the cutest little critter, BUT destructive!
All these critters got me to thinking that we see fewer shots of “critters” than anything else we look at on our blog visits. So I decided to start photographing the critters as I can………..for some reason they won’t pose for me nor sit still whilst I fetch my camera…….<grin>. So it’s going to take some patience and sitting for periods of time but I’m willing to do it to stretch my photography skills a bit.
I’m thinking to even include photos of Boo and Raider (our canine furbabies), maybe an occasional Bart image (our feline furbaby) if he’s outside, rabbits that venture through, or any other critter/insect I may find. I think it would be fun to make a “diary” of the CRITTERS IN MY BACKYARD.
AND I’m inviting anyone else that would like to share their own images. I’ve created a page to LINK UP with “Critters In My Backyard”. Please feel free to share your images…….it’ll be interesting as well as FUN! Everyone is welcome!
So to start this party off, I’m posting these two images of the male Red-Bellied Woodpecker in my backyard, munching on a suet cake.
Here’s a little better shot.
Now head on over to the Link-Up Page and link away! I’d LOVE to see as many critters as we can shoot! It never hurts to expand your skills in some way or another.
Hope you’ll join me!
Hugs and Have A Creative Day!
