I’m excited for another day shooting Still Life, this time with Liatris Spicata AKA Blazing Star. I have several of these plants growing in different parts of my flower garden.
Before the shot, a little introduction on this gorgeous plant.
If you want to attract butterflies and hummingbirds, you’ll be happy with this one! It grows to a height of 36-48 inches and can spread from 10 to 20 inches or more. It boasts BEAUTIFUL purple spikes with grass-like leaves on its stems. They can be grown as a border or look gorgeous in a meadow landscape. As you can see from the photo, the flowers open from the top down.
They can be used for cut flowers AND dried. For drying how-to, visit the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach site.
I’ll be back tomorrow with another Still Life shot and hope you’ll pop back for a visit.
Until then, Have A Creative Day!!
