Day 4 of 31 days of writing and today my focus was on decluttering as well as re-decorating with a few things I love.
Today’s focus was in the kitchen……our Awaken Station….the coffee MACHINE.
A little background……my husband drove truck for 34 years and I have to wonder how many cups of coffee he has consumed in his lifetime. Heck, I wonder how many cups I’VE consumed. It seems the coffee pot rarely gets a break in our home. When we moved into our current home, we decided that we’d gone through way too many “Mr. Coffee’s”, so we purchased an industrial BUNN, thus the “coffee MACHINE”. It is holding up well!
The reason we call it our Awaken Station is because it’s not only for the coffee, but if you notice, there are a few bottles of meds there…….morning meds and bananas for potassium. Do you know that it’s good to take potassium if you take blood pressure medication? We opted for bananas, a real supplement rather than potassium pills.
Okay, enough about that……..what I did here today took about 30 minutes total. I first had to declutter the top of the microwave. I trashed any outdated vitamins and pet meds, stored the dog’s treats in a jar IN the cupboard, NOT on top of the microwave and decided to add my two jars of vintage cookie cutters as decoration. Alot of these cookie cutters, my Mom used when I was a child. I also added to the wall the little 8×8 canvas with the cherries and vintage silverware (one of my own images that I had printed on canvas), and the spray of fall decor that a friend had given me. It will be so easy to change that spray out for Christmastime. There’s also a vintage creamer and sugar set sitting there that I found at a “junk store” several years ago.
Voila! Another hot spot taken care of! And it was a quick task that made me feel so much better about that area of my home.
I do hope you’ll pop back tomorrow to see what I come up with. I have alot of ideas to continue this month…….just in time for the upcoming Holidays! What better time to declutter, re-decorate, re-purpose than now…….getting comfortable for winter ahead!
What home projects have you been up to lately? I’d love to hear your thoughts on re-decorating or how you’re using the things YOU love in your decor!! Please do leave a comment, won’t you?
Hugs and Have a Creative Week!!
