I captured this shot of my clematis the other day just after a rain. It looks like it was nearly drowned but I have faith it’s going to perk right back up and be its beautiful self once again.
I think this capture and the edit pretty much represents where my passion for photography lies. Capturing florals in their natural habitat in the natural light is where I feel I’m most creative. Spring and Summer are my time to come alive with my camera.
This first photo is the original and I love it, but after a little editing, texturing, and adding a quote (no author was noted), I love it even more. I’m wanting to create a wall collage of some of my favorite shots after texturizing and adding some inspiration quotes. I think this is where my inner artist lies.
The change involved:
- using the lasso tool to select the unopened bud in the lower left and filling with content-aware to remove this portion from the photo.
- adding a layer of Kim Klassen’s “more magic” texture, using a screen blend mode at 100%, masking texture off the flower (created a lovely light image)
- adding a second layer of the “more magic” texture, using a soft light blend mode at 50% and again masking texture off the flower. The soft light blend mode darkened the photo but I’ve come to embrace the fact that I love darker and more vibrant color in my work. So I’m just going to go with it!
- I added a style to the text on the quote. I thought the quote fit perfectly since there’s raindrops on the clematis and I love the quote too.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
